On the first day of Advent, we put up our Jesse tree.
We have a small table top tree that we use for our tree. It came pre-lit with colored lights. I would love to find just purple lights...maybe next year.
We purchased purple and silver balls to help decorate the tree last year. We found a gold star at Hobby Lobby. We love that store!
I created our Jesse tree ornaments out of felt last year with help from Princess P.
We had been using paper ornaments I had printed out from a website.
I wanted to make something that was reusable and would last for a few years.
The ornaments were very easy to make. We cut out circles for the base and then added pictures to them. We used fabric glue to create the pictures.
The pictures depict the bible stories we read each day.

There are 30 ornaments total that we created.
For shorter Advent season, we do two ornaments on certain days. As the children have gotten older, we have increased the length of the bible verses read. Obviously when they were younger, I shortened them up to keep them interested. Now that they are older, we read more of the chapters. In the future, I'm sure we will take turns reading the bible stories.

ReplyDeleteI love your Jesse tree ornaments! Ours are also made of felt but they're not as beautiful as yours. I think we mustn't have had many colours of felt in our supply box when the kids made them because they are not as colourful as yours. Joseph's coat of many colours is rather dull! I also like the idea of purple lights. Thank you for sharing!
