New Christmas Book Discoveries

Every year, I love finding new Christmas books to share with my kids. Each year, they get a new Christmas book from Saint Nicholas. Obviously, they don't fit into their shoes, so he places them near their shoes. Though my babies may be getting older, we still enjoy reading stories together.

Here are 10 new books we discovered this year!

1. The Last Straw by Frederick Thury

This is a wonderful book about a camel who wants to be stubborn and do it all by himself. It's a great lesson for kids to learn that we all need help. My CCD aid read it to our class and I am so thankful she introduced it to us.

2. Holly by Ruth Brown

This is a sweet tale about an abandoned kitten found around Christmas, hence her name Holly. Who doesn't love a story about a rescued animal?

3. The Donkey's Dream by Barbara Helen Berger

This a wonderful story of the nativity. It tells the tale of an ordinary donkey who is carrying the greatest miracle on his back. It's beautifully illustrated.

4. The Littlest Fir Tree by Margaret Wise Brown

I have no idea how we missed this story, but I am glad we found it. It's a heart warming story about a young boy's special Christmas. Truly a classic!

5. On This Special Night by Claire Freedman

This is another nativity story, but the illustrations are amazing. We love the detail on the animals. The baby kittens are too cute.

6. Silver Packages An Appalachian Christmas Story by Cynthia Rylant

We discovered this story while doing our Appalachian Trail Unit Study. It's a charming story about a young boy who waits patiently year after year for a special present from the Christmas Train.

7. Only A Star by Margery Facklam

A simple story about the nativity with beautiful pictures.

8. The Night Before Christmas by Jan Brett

No Christmas story list would be complete without Clement C. Moore's poem  A Night Before Christmas. We love reading the poem and love Jan Brett's illustrations even more. So this book is a win-win for us!

9. The Twelve Prayers of Christmas

This is a beautiful story about all those that were present on the night that Jesus was born. It has short poems from each person or creature giving them a voice on this special night.

10. On Christmas Eve by Margaret Wise Brown

Again, somehow we missed another classic from Margaret Wise Brown. This a wonderful book for children. It captures the excitement and wonder that children experience the night of Christmas Eve as they what for Santa Claus.

Till next time,
~Monique

If you click through and purchase any of these books, I will receive a small amount of money....which I will probably use to buy more books.
