DIY~ Comfy Chair for American Girl Dolls

While Princess P was sick with the flu, I decided to do a fun project with once she started feeling a little better. We made a comfy chair for her dolls.

Supplies Needed
small wooden box
fabric
foam
stuffing
glue
needle and thread
sewing machine

I have been saving a wooden box that our clementines came in just for this project.

Princess P had to decided which dolls she wanted the chair for.... a historical doll or one of her modern dolls. She decided to go with the modern dolls. She picked out two fabrics, a pink and a green one. We measured out the fabric so it would cover the box.

We cut out a piece of foam to cover the top of the box.

I fold the fabric over the box and glued with a fabric glue.

I did the two longest sides first and then worked on the shorter sides.

I folded in the sides to form a clean edge. I then folded down the fabric and glued it in place.

I pressed down firmly to get a clean  fold.

I used clips to keep the fabric in place while the glue dried.

While chair dried, we worked on the pillows. I cut a rectangle a little bigger than the box to allow for seam allowance. Princess P sewed up the sides. We then stuffed the pillow with stuffing and hand stitched the pillows closed.

Once the bottom part of the chair was done, our mama cat immediately climbed on top for a nap.

Our finished chair had a back pillow and two small accent pillows.

It was an easy project to do and I had fun working with my daughter. She loved the chair and couldn't wait to play with it!

Winter Sweets for American Girl Dolls

During the big arctic freeze, most of the US has been experiencing, Princess P and I made some more fun food for her dolls out of clay.

She was super excited to help.

She even suggested we make some to sell. We may just add it to the Etsy store I plan on opening this month.

We made eggs and bacon.

Cinnamon Rolls.

Red and pink valentine heart cookies with sprinkles.

and we made some pink, white, and red lollipops just in time for Valentine's Day!

Every Thursday at Like Mother, Like Daughter

Princess P made her First Holy Communion last Sunday. She was very excited and looked beautiful. Of course, I am a little biased. She was thrilled with her dress. I am so glad she liked it. It was a collaboration. She said what she wanted and Mama made it. I couldn't be more proud of my sweet little girl.

Spring has finally settled in here. Actually in the past few days, summer has hit. We decided to take the kids fishing on one of these wonderful spring days. I guess I should admit it was my husbands idea not mine. I don't fish. I just go and watch.

Lego Man fishing. he was trying to avoid 3 HUGE snapping turtles that were swimming nearby.

Princess P caught this fish all by herself. She was very excited.

Lego Man didn't catch anything, but daddy caught a trout.

Our kitty had surgery so he has been stuck inside ALL week. He has not been very quiet about his dislike for this fact. He even tried to wake me up at 5:30 by meowing in my face. I think he was hoping I would walk to the door and let him out in a sleepy state. 

Thankfully, I am smarter than him.

He did trick Lego Man though. He took the cat outside for a walk on a leash and the cat got away. He entered a whole too small for Lego Man to fit through so he let the leash go. Mr. Kitty saw his opportunity and seized it. He bolted. Luckily, Lego Man caught him. We thought it was funny that he was outsmarted by a cat.

The kids have been studying Ancient Rome the past few weeks and yesterday we talked about Pompeii. After our lesson, the kids asked if they could make a small volcano Lego Man got in a science kit.
