Good morning! It has been way too long, but life just seemed to be on a never ending roller coaster the past few weeks. I hope you all have been doing well!

It's been busy, busy, busy here. This week is a little slower paced, but then we start school next week. I can't believe summer is almost over. I swear it still feels like March!

So we're still working on the house. It's almost done, but just not quite there yet. Therese's arm is healed. Thankfully, her elbow wasn't broken. She strained the muscles and it took a few weeks to heal.

I, however, have a torn rotator cuff. At least that is what the doctor thinks. It's hard to know for sure when your doctor's appointment is over the internet. It took 2 weeks to get that appointment and now I have to wait until mid-September to start physical therapy. It's crazy. 😜 If that doesn't work, then they'll schedule an MRI to see if I need surgery.

The dog also had a run in with a raccoon. Her eye was all torn up. Thankfully, her vision wasn't affected and she is healing up well. Life has just been crazy here!

Enough about my chaos, let's get on with Happy Homemaker Monday. Once again, I'm joining in with Sandra over at Diary of a Stay at Home. Grab a cup of coffee, head on over, and say hello!

❀❀~The Weather~❀❀

We have more RAIN!!!!! After a few weeks of high temps and no rain, we have cool temps and rain. This has been the weirdest August for weather. Hot dry.... cool rain.

Monday~ Rain, 67*
Tuesday~ Cloudy, 77*
Wednesday~ Cloudy, 86*
Thursday~ Partly Cloudy, 88*
Friday~Mostly Sunny, 84*
Saturday~ Mostly Sunny, 76*
Sunday~ Sunny, 78*

❀❀~How I'm feeling this morning~❀❀

To be honest, I'm feeling pretty yucky. My left arm aches all the time. I have very little movement and if I do forget and try to use it the pain is horrible. They gave me pain meds, but they don't help and just upset my stomach. Sleeping has been almost non-existent. I can't find a comfortable way to sleep. I'm getting about 2-3 hours of sleep a night. Not fun.

❀❀~What I'm doing right now~❀❀

I'm writing up this post, while drinking my morning coffee. I'm actually on cup number 3, but whose counting. I need the caffeine to wake up or stay awake. I have a load of laundry in the machine already. Michael has been extremely helpful with carrying down the basket of clothes for me. Therese has become my folder. In the background, I can hear the soft sound of rain hitting the trees. It's a peaceful sound.

❀❀~ What's on my mind~❀❀

All the stuff I need to finish this week, but with limited mobility I'm not sure how much I'll get done.

Minnie Roo, is getting so big. He runs all over the place. I took some pictures of him, but somehow they disappeared from my phone. I probably deleted them somehow.

❀❀~What they kids are up to~❀❀

Enjoying their last free week before school starts. Therese went to Youth group last night and hung out with friends. She's the only one of her friends that hasn't started back to school yet.

❀❀~What's for breakfast~❀❀

Three cups of coffee, a gluten free English muffin, and some strawberries.

❀❀~My current reading pile~❀❀

I've been reading Sweet Salt Air by Barbara Delinsky

.

I love books set in a beach location. I'm a beach girl at heart.

❀❀~Music I'm listening to~❀❀

No music lately, except what has been playing in the car as we run errands.
I have been playing my son's Xbox. He has the old Spyro games for it and when you can't do much else it's an easy way to kill an hour.

❀❀~What I'm working on~❀❀

I finished up the lesson plans for next year. FINALLY!! I do have some pages  to print out. I need to organize the books and get everything ready for the new year. We do need a few notebooks, but other than that our supplies are still pretty good.

I need to price more books, take pictures, and list them on my book page to sell. Our shelves are still full, but I see a few empty spots! I have a few bins of books I need to go through, but they may have to wait since I can't lift them.

❀❀~What new for me~❀❀

I'm still working on growing my businesses. I've set up two Facebook pages for them.

I'm trying to figure out ways to share about our amazing products, how to help my business to grow, and how to help my family with this new adventure.

I still need to set up my Etsy shop, so I can sell my sewing creations. I think I maybe trying to start too many things at one time. Like they say, go big or go home.

❀❀~Looking around the house~❀❀

Things are still crazy around here. Rooms are still out of order, but we're making do.
I need to organize the school/craft room. I've been doing a little at a time, but it's a slow process. It will help when the rest of the house gets put back into place.

❀❀~This weeks to do list~❀❀

The list seems the same week after week....
Laundry-
Unpack the photos and rehang them on the wall~ I'm thinking the kids may have to help with this one, since I can't raise my left arm
List some more books to sell
Organize the books and lessons
Head to the library
Collect items being picked up for donation

❀~What's for dinner this week~❀❀

No clue yet~

Monday~ Chicken with ???

❀❀~ From the camera~❀❀

❀❀~What I'm praying for~❀❀

The reposed soul of a friend of the family
Our friend's family as they grieve the loss of their father
Our nation during this difficult time
Our President, Vice-President, and leaders
Our first responders
The cities being destroyed by violent protesters
The numerous children that have been rescued from sex-trafficking and abuse and all those poor innocent children still being held captive
My arm and that physical therapy works and I won't need surgery

❀❀~Inspirational thought for the week~❀❀

Hello dear friends! I'm so sorry I missed last week. Things were down right crazy around here. We've been working hard on the living room and hallway. Painting is done. Trim is almost done. We have 2 pieces of our living room furniture back from the gentleman that is recovering. It turned out amazing. I've chalk painted the old entertainment center and I LOVE it.

In between all of that, Therese hurt her arm. She's had x-rays and has seen an orthopedic. We are now waiting for an MRI appointment to see if she broke her elbow or if she just badly sprained it. We should get an appointment in the next week and half. Things are a little backed up since the whole Covid thing.

It always seems like when it rains, it pours!

Well enough about our crazy week, let's get started with Happy Homemaker Monday. Be sure to stop in and say hello to our beautiful hostess, Sandra, over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom.

❀❀~The Weather~❀❀

We have RAIN!!!!! I forgot what it looked like. The temps are cooler too, but with the humidity it doesn't feel all that cool. At least we have rain though.

Monday~ Thunderstorms, 79*
Tuesday~ Rain, 77*
Wednesday~ Mostly Sunny, 81*
Thursday~ Thunderstorms, 78*
Friday~Thunderstorms,  79*
Saturday~ Thunderstorms, 83*
Sunday~ Partly Cloudy, 84*

❀❀~How I'm feeling this morning~❀❀

I'm feeling pretty good. My left arm is still a little sore. I'm making sure I keep stretching the muscles, but not overdoing it. I still have no clue what I did. I swear I slept on it wrong, but that can't be what caused all this pain and lack of movement. Who knows? Getting older is not always fun. Who would think that sleeping wrong could put you in pain for a few weeks! It's absolutely bizarre.

❀❀~What I'm doing right now~❀❀

I'm writing up this post, while drinking my morning coffee. I'm actually on cup number 2, but whose counting. I'm waiting for the kids to get up. Michael has his cousin sleep over last night, so I'm waiting for them to wake up before I start breakfast. They both want my gluten free pancakes. Mr. Fluffy Pants is sitting on the table with me watching the birds, rabbits, and deer stroll about. It's currently not raining, so I think all the woodland creatures are out and about.

❀❀~ What's on my mind~❀❀

All the stuff I need to finish this week.
How to help my business to grow

I'm a little disappointed. Out of 12 chicken eggs, only 2 eggs ever hatched. Our sweet little Buttercup got sick and didn't make it. We tried to keep her warm and hydrated, but it just didn't work. I buried her in our rose garden.

Minnie Roo, yup he's a boy, is doing fantastic. He runs all over the place. I have no new pictures of him, because he's too fast. He's quite the handful for his mama.

❀❀~What they kids are up to~❀❀

Today they both are hanging out with friends. They've been helping with the remolding. Well, Michael has. Poor Therese has her arm in a sling, so she's not able to help out much. She's been watching Grey's Anatomy.

❀❀~What's for breakfast~❀❀

I had two cups of coffee so far, but will be making pancakes later.

❀❀~My current reading pile~❀❀

I haven't had much time for reading lately, but I did start The Vanishing by by Jayne Ann Krentz.

I'm halfway through the book. I know I need to finish it soon, because it's due back to the library soon. Sometimes those due dates can be rather pesky.

❀❀~Music I'm listening to~❀❀

Just the playlists on Amazon Prime. I did listen to the new Taylor Swift album. It's a little different from her last few albums.

❀❀~What I'm working on~❀❀

I really need to finish up the lesson plans for next year. I just have not been motivated or had the time to finish them the last few weeks. Thankfully, the kids don't start back until after Labor Day, so I have a a month to get them done. I mailed out our letter to the county to inform them of our homeschooling.

I'm  pricing more books, taking pictures, and listing them on my book page to sell. Our shelves are still full, but I see a few empty spots!

❀❀~What new for me~❀❀

I started a new job! I recently signed up to be a Younique presenter. Younigue is an amazing company that sells high, quality skin care, make-up, and tools. What I love about the company is that whenever someone makes a purchase, 10% of the profits from the sale goes to support survivors of child sexual abuse.

I'll be honest, at first, I had no idea the company supported such a wonderful cause. I just wanted to try out some of their amazing products. I bought the beauty box (presenter box) for $99. It came with over $400 worth of products. I figured it was a great deal. After using the a few of the products, I started looking into the company and loved what I saw! I even created a Facebook page for my new adventure, Monique's Beauty Corner.

One of the reasons, I decided to start this business is the kids no longer require all my time. Now that they are getting ready to head out to college and explore their own goals, I figured I could start getting back to some of the things I enjoyed. I love fashion and make-up, so why not try to make a little money along the way. Who doesn't need a little extra money?

❀❀~Looking around the house~❀❀

Things are crazy around here. Nothing is where it should be. It;s dusty from the sanding of the floors. I've vacuumed but it still settles down after I'm done. I know it will take a few weeks to get everything back to how it was, I can't wait for it all to be done!

I have piles of books in the front room. I'm pricing them, listing them, and finding them new homes. It's time to share some of these great books with some other little kids. I've realized I can't keep everything.

❀❀~This weeks to do list~❀❀

The list seems the same week after week....
Laundry- the never ending story
Finish nailing down the trim
Replace the furniture
Unpack the boxes- replace all the pictures and knick-knacks around the living room
Exercise
List some more books to sell
Find hostess for my Younigue business

❀~What's for dinner this week~❀❀

All this house remolding has been so scattered. I have no dinner plans made. I haven't for the past few weeks and it's been a nightmare. I currently can't find my planner, so I have no where to write down what I want to make. I guess I could just put a list on the fridge.

Monday~ Portuguese chicken and rice
Tuesday~ Chicken Enchiladas with Spanish rice
Wednesday~ Chicken apple sausage with roasted potatoes, and broccoli
Thursday~ Pork chops, apples, and beans
Friday~ Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and salad
Saturday~??
Sunday~ Roasted chicken, potatoes, peas

❀❀~ From the camera~❀❀

Well, hello there rain.
It's been a while since you came for a visit.

❀❀~What I'm praying for~❀❀

Therese and her arm. I'm praying it isn't too severe. I'm praying she won't need surgery.
My family and friends
Our Nation and leaders during these strange, trying times
I'm praying for guidance on my decision on whether I will continue to teach first grade religious education class. Things have changed drastically and I'm not quite sure I'm up to it.

This weekend was a bust one for us. Michael had his shooting competition this past Friday and Saturday. They held it locally since the big competition in Ohio was canceled because of Covid. He didn't do as well as he would have liked, but with no practice over the past few months I think he did rather well. He did improve some of his times, while a few slipped. I know he'll work even harder this year to improve his times.

It was hot and disgusting out this weekend. Friday's competition was horrible from the heat. Thankfully, Saturday's competition started early in the morning. We were just finishing up when the heat started to get unbearable.

Sunday, I worked on carpet cleaning the basement carpet since we took out our old furniture that we're having re-upholstered to the gentlemen completing the work. We now moving our current couch down stairs and getting to work on the living room and hallway! I can't wait to have it all completed.

Well enough about our weekend, let's get started with Happy Homemaker Monday. Be sure to stop in and say hi to our beautiful host, Sandra, over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom.

❀❀~The Weather~❀❀

HOT, HOT, and HOT!!!!!!

Monday~ Sunny 94*
Tuesday~ Sunny 91*
Wednesday~ Sunny 92*
Thursday~ Sunny 91*
Friday~ Partly Cloudy 89*
Saturday~ Partly Cloudy 89*
Sunday~ Sunny 95*

It's another hot one here. With the heat index, the temps are going to be in the 100's! We've had no rain and we need it desperately. We have a slight chance for thunderstorms everyday, but they said that last week and we saw nothing! The grass is officially dead. It crunches under your feet. The poor chickens are panting so bad. Mama hen is still sitting on a few eggs, but she does leave them to get some fresh air. Minnie (who I now think is a little rooster) and Buttercup have joined their mama for her walks. Poor little Buttercup is so small and has a hard time keeping up. We had to bring her in and give her
some electrolytes to keep her going.

❀❀~How I'm feeling this morning~❀❀

My allergies are doing rather well, but I've remembered to take my meds every day. My left shoulder and upper arm are still sore. I messed it up somehow. I think I overworked a muscle. I looked it up online and and it's common problem for swimmers. Not that I've been competitively swimming. I just need to baby it a little and work on a few exercises and it should get back to normal.

❀❀~What I'm doing right now~❀❀

Well, I'm writing up this post, but I'm also getting to watch two sweet baby deer play in the front yard. We've had a mama deer hanging around and now I know why. She has twins! They are so cute frolicking in the woods.

❀❀~ What's on my mind~❀❀

All the stuff I need to get done this week.
Basement, donations, painting, etc.
School lesson plans that I still need to complete.

❀❀~What they kids are up to~❀❀

The kids will be helping me get the living room ready for painting. Michael will start the sanding process for the hardwood floors. He does have to work one day this week. I hope he can handle the heat since he works outside doing yard work.

❀❀~What's for breakfast~❀❀

I had a cup of coffee, two eggs scrambled with cheese.

❀❀~My current reading pile~❀❀

I'm still reading True to Me by Kay Bratt.

I'm about halfway through the book and so far I'm enjoying it. I doubt I'll have much down time to read this week though.

❀❀~Music I'm listening to~❀❀

I've been using my Amazon Prime Music to listen to a wide range of songs and artists.

❀❀~What I'm working on~❀❀

I'm still working on those darn lesson plans for next year. I just have not been motivated to finish them. Luckily, the kids don't start back until after Labor Day.

My pricing of books and taking pictures has been put on hold with the living room work. The gentlemen called and said he could get us in earlier, so we are now focused on that. A surprise, but a nice one. No one likes the sectional we currently have in our living room. We bought it three years ago and it has not held up at all. The sad thing it's a top, well-known brand. I definitely will not be being a couch from them again. I loved our old living room set, but after 15 years of use with babies, kids, and pets it looked HORRIBLE. I was thrilled we were able to find someone to recover it and fabric we liked.

❀❀~Looking around the house~❀❀

The pet hair is everywhere. I swear all the animals have started to really shed their winter coats now. With all the hair on the floor, you would think they would be bald by now!
The floors need vacuumed and mopped, but with the sanding that we have to do, I think I'll wait a bit to mop. Our focus this week is the living room. We bought the paint for the colors I picked out. I need to paint the entertainment unit and two end tables. Sand and re-stain the floors. Paint the living room and hallway. Replace some trim that can't be fixed. I need to find a fabric  I like so I can make throw pillows for the couch, love seat, and chair.

He doesn't mind the current couch!

❀❀~This weeks to do list~❀❀

The list seems the same week after week....
Laundry
Empty out the entertainment unit
Take down all the photos so we can paint the walls
Move current couch down to the basement so we can sand and re-stain the hardwood floors before we get our old/new furniture back (so excited)
Clean the bathrooms (I cleaned half of the master bath already)
Wash the shower curtains
Exercise
Take the dog for her allergy shot (still need to take our sweet girl)

❀~What's for dinner this week~❀❀

I have nothing planned at the moment. I had every intention of sitting down last week and planning the next month. The week got rather hectic and no planning was done. My goal is to work on it tomorrow.

Monday~ Chicken, zucchini, and potatoes
Tuesday~
Wednesday~
Thursday~
Friday~
Saturday~
Sunday~

❀❀~ From the camera~❀❀

❀❀~What I'm praying for~❀❀

My family and friends
Our Nation and leaders
