Religion~
John 11:25-26
To learn the bible verse this week, I had the kids look the verse up in the bible and read it out loud. They then worked on their cursive handwriting worksheet I had created for the verse.
Here's a craft I found online to go along with this bible. I saved it to use with my first grade students at church, but it would be great for younger students this week.
Latin~ Tantum Ergo
We are still working through this hymn. We still using the same techniques we used over the last few years. You can read more about it here.
History~
This week we moved into World War II. For this study, we'll be using the Time Travelers: World War II from Home School in the Woods. This fantastic unit study provides students with lots of information, a fun lap book to create, projects to complete, notes to read, crafts, and food recipes from the era. It's perfect for hands-on learning.

Nervous System
This week the kids learned all about the nervous system....the brain, the spinal cord, and all the nerves that run through our bodies!
Here are some of the free resources I found online to help us learn about the nervous system.

Liquids
1 cup= 8 ounces
2 cups= 1 pint
2 pints= 1 quart
4 quarts= 1 gallon
This week we played around in the kitchen! What better way to learn measurements of liquids. The kids made a gallon of homemade lemonade, we baked some cookies, and they helped prepare dinner. This is one of the easiest weeks to study, but also one of the funnest weeks too.
Geography~ Africa

Take a blank outline map and have the kids label Mount Kilimanjaro, Lake Victoria, and Lake Tanganyika. Heading to the library to check out a few books about Africa can help them learn more about the beauty this stunning country has. Maybe try a few traditional recipes too.
Great Words~
O Captain! O Captain! by Walt Whitman
This is our last week with this poem. The kids have worked on memorizing this poem written in honor our Abraham Lincoln.
Till Next Time,
Monique
