SchoolhouseTeachers.com Review

Did I tell you all that I am now a member of the TOS Review Crew?
Well, I am!!
I might have forgotten to tell you with all the preparations for Advent going on and with us trying to finish up our lessons before our Christmas break begins..

I am very excited to be reviewing the yearly membership for SchoolhouseTeachers.com.

SchoolhouseTeachers.com Review

Have you never heard of SchoolhouseTeachers.Com?
Well, neither had I.
I was amazed and overwhelmed by ALL that they had to offer.
It's a homeschooling mother's dream come true!

The SchoolhouseTeachers.com is a Christian homeschooling curriculum site that is part of The Old School House.
You can try it out for 30 days for FREE if you sign up for a Welcome Basket.
The regular cost is $12.95 a month.
You can save 10% if you sign up for a 1 year membership for only $139.
The good thing about the SchoolhouseTeachers.com is that there are no per-class or per-student fees.
Perfect for families!
You can cancel anytime.
They have a Facebook page to share ideas and to get questions answered!
There is even a Pinterest Page to get even more ideas!

So onto the review........

First off, they have something for everyone!!! They have stuff for teachers, preschoolers, kindergartners, elementary age kids, middle-schoolers, and high-schoolers. They even have stuff for parents and families. It's your one stop shopping for everything.

Don't get overwhelmed when you first click on the link. They have a lot of products and classes! The shear volume may have you wanting to run and scream. My suggestion is to click on the start here button on the right hand side. It looks like this.....

It explains all that they have, shows you were to find stuff, and explains the cost. It is a huge time saver and very user friendly!
After reading the Welcome Page just click around and search for a few topics you may be interested in. There is a lot to choose from. I'm sure you'll find something to interest you or your kids.
I chose to first click on the art link. I started with the middle/high school tab, since I have students in that age. They have a wonderful course dealing with art techniques. Great for the budding artist!

I am looking forward to starting this lesson with my kids when we get back into school after the Christmas break.
After exploring a little there, I headed off to explore more of the site. They have geography resources, lapbooking, literature kits, music, French, Writing, etc.
There are over 100 courses available to use!
Lessons can be week long or monthly.
I've been searching for about 2 weeks now and I still haven't seen half of what the site has to offer. I'm glad I have a year to check it all out.

While searching the site, I found another area I am really looking forward to using with the kids when we get back to school in January.
It's called the Schoolhouse Dailies.

Here they have daily topics you can go over in your school everyday.
They have spelling, writing, copy work, games, math, history, and grammar. They actually have too many to list. You'll just have to check it out for yourself.

They have one topic that I am really interested in doing with my kids.
It's called Everyday Explorers:USA.
This will go perfectly with our United States Scrapbook Study we are already doing.  Each day the kids will learn more about the state they are studying and an activity is suggested to help reinforce the lesson.

Not all the states are listed yet, but they have a great selection to choose from.

Another Schoolhouse Dailies I am hoping to use in our schooling in the spring is the Daily Discoveries. In this topic, you can learn more about pond life or the seashore. In the spring, we can learn more about pond life, while exploring the ponds near our own home.

Any learning that can be be done through hands on learning is always great.

SchoolhouseTeachers.com  is affordable! They are having a Christmas Super Sale!

SchoolhouseTeachers.com Review
You can get 40% off the Monthly Membership making it $7.77 a month or 50% off the Yearly Membership paying only $64.26 for the year!

Traveling Wise Men ~ Day 13, Day 14, Day 15, Day 16, Day 17

Day 13
We found the Three Wise Men and Beth sitting on top of the ceiling fans blades.
Sorry I couldn't find the camera that day. Surprisingly the kids found them right away. I really thought it was a tricky spot, but I was wrong.

Days 14, 15, 16
Well the Three Wise Men got a little hung up for a few days.

It seemed like no one was going to find them. So for days 14, 15, and 16 they were stuck in garland hanging around the grandfather clock. Poor guys.

Thankfully they were found and can return to their journey.

Day 17
Mama forgot to move them. Of course, this didn't stop Lego Man from tricking his sister into searching for them. He knew they hadn't been moved and "completely" forgot to let her in on that bit of information.

Traveling Wise Men~ Day 10, Day 11, and Day 12

Day 10 found the three Wise Men stopping for a quick game.
It looks like they found the kids game, Spot It!

What do they have to spot...a fish?

A purple candle?

Look Caspar has found one.

So has Melchior. He's trying to load it up on poor Beth.

And they walked
and walked
and walked
and walked, until they found a boat!

On Day 11, they Noah's Ark. How lucky for them and their tired legs.

On Day 12, the three Wise Men were just hanging around!

Somehow they got hung up on the kitchen curtains.

Till next time,
~Monique

Christmas Giveaway~ Candy Canes for American Girl Dolls

It's been a long time since I did a giveaway. So Princess P and I have decided to do a fun giveaway just in time for Christmas.

A few months ago, Princess P and I opened up a Etsy store called Treasured Pearls.
We will be selling girls clothes, American Girl doll clothes, and American Girl doll food.
Princess P has been hard at work making doll food.
Unfortunately, I haven't held up to my side of the bargain. I have been too busy sewing the tree skirt for our Christmas tree (the one from last year I never finished).

Well, Princess P had her first sale!!
So in honor of her first sale, we are going to be giving away candy canes!

Two, yep I said TWO, lucky readers will win 3 candy canes for their dolls.

doll and plate not included

Candy canes are a perfect fit for American Girl dolls or any 15-18 inch doll.

Candy canes are made out of polymer clay. Clay is baked in the oven and is hardened. I would not recommend candy canes for little one since they are small and can be swallowed.
Candy Canes have been made by my young daughter. To see more of what she has made, please check out our store.

So onto the details. I am going to make this easy. To enter just leave a comment. For additional entries, you can like my

Just leave a comment for each page you liked. If you leave a comment and like all 3 pages, you'll name will be entered into the drawing 4 times.
See super easy!

Princess P will pick the winners on
Tuesday, December 16th.

Till next time,
 ~Monique

New Christmas Book Discoveries

Every year, I love finding new Christmas books to share with my kids. Each year, they get a new Christmas book from Saint Nicholas. Obviously, they don't fit into their shoes, so he places them near their shoes. Though my babies may be getting older, we still enjoy reading stories together.

Here are 10 new books we discovered this year!

1. The Last Straw by Frederick Thury

This is a wonderful book about a camel who wants to be stubborn and do it all by himself. It's a great lesson for kids to learn that we all need help. My CCD aid read it to our class and I am so thankful she introduced it to us.

2. Holly by Ruth Brown

This is a sweet tale about an abandoned kitten found around Christmas, hence her name Holly. Who doesn't love a story about a rescued animal?

3. The Donkey's Dream by Barbara Helen Berger

This a wonderful story of the nativity. It tells the tale of an ordinary donkey who is carrying the greatest miracle on his back. It's beautifully illustrated.

4. The Littlest Fir Tree by Margaret Wise Brown

I have no idea how we missed this story, but I am glad we found it. It's a heart warming story about a young boy's special Christmas. Truly a classic!

5. On This Special Night by Claire Freedman

This is another nativity story, but the illustrations are amazing. We love the detail on the animals. The baby kittens are too cute.

6. Silver Packages An Appalachian Christmas Story by Cynthia Rylant

We discovered this story while doing our Appalachian Trail Unit Study. It's a charming story about a young boy who waits patiently year after year for a special present from the Christmas Train.

7. Only A Star by Margery Facklam

A simple story about the nativity with beautiful pictures.

8. The Night Before Christmas by Jan Brett

No Christmas story list would be complete without Clement C. Moore's poem  A Night Before Christmas. We love reading the poem and love Jan Brett's illustrations even more. So this book is a win-win for us!

9. The Twelve Prayers of Christmas

This is a beautiful story about all those that were present on the night that Jesus was born. It has short poems from each person or creature giving them a voice on this special night.

10. On Christmas Eve by Margaret Wise Brown

Again, somehow we missed another classic from Margaret Wise Brown. This a wonderful book for children. It captures the excitement and wonder that children experience the night of Christmas Eve as they what for Santa Claus.

Till next time,
~Monique
