Good morning! I hope y'all had a wonderful weekend. We had a relatively low key weekend. We did attend a sports banquet for Michael's team. It was fun! We won a few door prizes. The most exciting one for us girls was a 6 month membership to a local gym. It has a pool, so Therese is thrilled. She can keep up her swimming. The funny thing is we were thinking of joining, so winning allows us to check out the place to see if we like it.
So let's get into our Happy Homemaker Monday visit.
Be sure to stop in and visit with Sandra and all the other ladies!
~The Weather~
It's hot today, but it looks like the temperatures are going to drop a little mid-week, but then they head back up at the end of the week. I love summer and the warm weather, but I'm kind of looking forward to fall and the cooler temps. I've been wanting to decorate the house for fall.

~Breakfast this Morning~
Coffee, of course. I also snacked on a oatmeal raisin cookie. I tried a new recipe yesterday. I think I found a gluten free oatmeal raisin cookie everyone enjoyed. I'll have to write up the recipe and share. I took my grandma's recipe and adjusted it to make it gluten free.
~Right now I am~
Writing up this post and trying to plan the rest of the day. I have a cat by my feet and a dog sleeping next to me. Everyone is curled up nice and cozy.
~On my nightstand~
My Bath and Body lotion. It's a new scent, Desert Wildflowers, I picked up a month ago. A cup of water from the night before. My Fitbit that needs charging and my a book that I'm currently reading.
~What I'm reading~
I have 5 books going at the moment. I really need to finish up a few. I just bought a few new ones at the thrift store and can't wait to start them! I just need more time to read.
Front Yard Gardens: Growing More Than Grass
Each New Day by Corrie Ten Boom
Here's to Us by Elin Hilderbrand
Let Me In by Donna Kauffman
The Summer of Sunshine and Margot by Susan Mallery.
~On the To Do List this Week~
Mass on Thursday for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Michael has to serve. A doctors appointment for one of the kids and an ear check up for the dog. She had a double ear infection at her last check up. My poor baby.
~TV shows I watched this week~
O.K. I'll admit I watched the reboot of Beverly Hills 90210. I watched the show back in the day, so I wanted to see how the knew one would be. I didn't like it. It was nothing like I thought it would be. I honestly thought it was going to start up years later and pick up with their lives after college. I had no clue it was going to be a show about the actors getting back together to redo the series. So far, I''m not impressed at all. I don't think I'll even watch the next episode. It was a big let down.
~What I'm working on~
I'm currently finishing up lesson plans. I'm almost done. I ordered the last of their books. We have most of our new supplies for the year. We are almost ready to go. I'm not sure where summer went, but it sure went by quickly.
I'd love to paint the walls in the stairway leading to our basement. They haven't been painted since we moved here and could use a fresh coat of paint!

~What I'm thinking about~
Definitely the school year starting up soon. I hope the year goes well and both ids enjoy the classes they are taking at a local co-op.
I'm praying for a great year teaching my little first graders this year at church. I hope we have an amazing class. Therese is helping this year, so I'm excited we get to do this together for a few years.
Michael got his learner's permit this week, so that takes into a whole new world. I can't believe I have a child that will be driving soon. It seems like yesterday we were bringing him home. Time has flown by so quickly. It's a little scarier to think about the future and what life will be like once the kids move out. We spend so much time taking care of them. I can't imagine my life without them.
~What I'm thankful for~
Our new kitty is healthy. He's stumbling while walking was his ears. It looks like he needed another does of meds for his ear mites. I guess he had a bad case of them. Thankfully he is doing better and is still the sweetest, fluff ball. Now that he's been on good food and is taking nutrients, he is looking great. His hair is so soft and growing every day. He's going to be one handsome little guy.
~Quote for the Week~
A friend shared this quote and I thought it was beautiful and so true. It goes back to that old saying actions speak louder than words.
I hope you all have a very blessed week!
Till Next Time,
Monique
Glad your kitty is healthy and it wasn't anything serious. Poor puppy with the ear infection. Hope you have a wonderful week & new school year over there!
ReplyDelete90210 - I feel the same way! I am undecided if I will watch the next episode yet. Love your quote! Have a great Monday/week!
ReplyDeleteHi Grace - the link on Sandra's blog brings us back to a June HHM. Glad to see the kitty is adapting well - hope the dog feels better soon too. I've watched the 1st 90210 too... just don't know what to think of it. Might watch another episode to make up my mind if following it or not. Have a great week.
