Religion~

While  searching online, I found a wonderful lesson about the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy from Our Lady of Lourdes.
The kids did a crossword puzzle I created at A to Z Teacher Stuff

Latin~
This week we started learning the Holy, Holy, Holy in Latin. We sang along with the monks from our Chant Kit Cd.
We learned about the origin of this hymn. The Sanctus was first added to the Mass by Pope Saint Sixtus (119-128). The hymn is broken up into two parts. The first part is taken from the vision of the Prophet Isaiah. The second part is taken from the shouts and praises Jesus receieved when he entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.



Math~

I found this eight time tables song that kids can listen to, sing, and learn the multiples of 8! 

A fun activity I did with my youngest to help her learn the multiples of eight was play Eight Plates.

I took some paper plates and wrote the numbers on them. I then had her set the table. At first, I kept the plates in order but after a few turns around the table, I mixed them up and had her set the table in the correct order.

To help reinforce the multiples of eight, I had the kids work on a few worksheets.

Geography~

We labeled the CCM map. We used the wall map in our school room to learn the new states and review the previous states we've learned.

The kids colored in our state outline maps and labeled the state and the capital on the paper.

We are almost done with our Christopher Columbus poem. The kids have done a fantastic job learning the poem. We are still going over the new section each day. The kids are using their copy of the poem to work on their memorization of it each night. I am so proud of their diligence. 

Science~

Separating Mixtures

We read Chapter 6 and 7 in our Real Science 4 Kids Chemistry book. We have really enjoyed this text book. It has provided just enough information to go along with our CCM book. I also found a site perfect for explaining the process to kids. Head over here to check it out.

We found a few youtube videos that showed the process of separation.

         

We did a simple worksheet that dealt with how to separate different mixtures. You can find it at Great Schools.

History~

This week, the kids learned about the French Wars of Religion, the Thirty Years War, and the English Civil War. It was a lot to take it. I wasn't able to come up with any real fun activities for this week but I did find some sources on the topics so the kids could learn more about the subject.
