Since so many of us have had our summer plans canceled. I thought I'd share a few fun ideas to do with the kids this summer! I know my kids have enjoyed all of these things we've done over the years.

1. Slip and Slide

Everyone loves a slip and slide! Young and old.

or a cute little splash pad for the tiny folks...

Or just use an old fashion water sprinkler to stay cool during those hot, humid days.

 2. Splash around in a kiddie pool

We bought one very similar to this one this year. Since we no longer have our above ground pool, this was a quick easy pool to set up and to cool off during those hot. sunny days. It's perfect for those sun-bathing teenagers!

Don't forget the pool toys for the little ones!

3. Have a water gun fight!

Pick teams or go one on one. This is a great way to get some exercise (wear the kids out) and stay cool at the same time. Our lab even enjoys getting in on the fun!

4. Have a water balloon fight.

This is a great way to have fun with a group of kids and adults.

Watch out for the dogs on this one. Our puppy loves to jump up and bite the balloons to pop them before you get a chance to throw it. Just be sure to pick up all those balloon pieces when you're done.

5. Go on a nature hike and search for some bugs!

Over the years, we've caught tadpoles, frogs, crayfish, caterpillars, snakes, worms, lizards, click beetles, a Hercules beetle (they're HUGE), spiders, butterflies, turtles, and so much more. One time we even rescued a humming bird and nourished it back to health so it could fly away.

6. Create a Garden

Even if you don't have the space for a big garden, a small garden can be done. You can do strawberries in a pot,  plant a few plants in some pots around the deck, create a flower garden,

build a fairy garden, or a gnome garden. Don't forget to get the kiddos some cute gardening tools and attire.

7. Add some beautiful details to your garden!

The kids can make a few stone stepping stones to add a little flare to the flower garden beds. Have them paint rocks to add some bright colors to your landscape.

They can even add some music to the summer days. They can create some fun, whimsical wind chime.

8. Science Fun in the Summer Time

Build a volcano, hatch some butterflies, or make some slime.

9. Have some hands-on fun

Color the sidewalk and driveway with some chalk. Blow some bubbles or create your own bubbles.
when my kids were little, they loved the bubble machine they received as a birthday gift.

Bubbles floated throughout the air and they didn't have to struggle trying to blow the bubbles.
Fly a kite.

Build a rocket. There are simple designs and more advanced ones that even older kids can create.
Fly a plane

10. Have fun with the family

Camp out in the backyard. Build a bonfire, roast a few hot dogs, and enjoy some s'mores. Go for a walk. Get outside and play a few games. Go on a picnic. Find a lake and go fishing. Go to the beach and build a sand castle. Find some interesting places to visit around you.... field trips or day trips are the best.

Till Next Time,
Monique
